Mr. A.H.M. Shafiquzzaman joined Bangladesh Civil Service in the year of 1994. He belongs to 13th Batch of BCS (Administration Cadre).

 

His first posting was the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Pabna as Assistant Commissioner and Magistrate. He has wide experience of working at the field administration and the ministry level. At the field level he served as Assistant Commissioner (Land), Revenue Deputy Collector, Nezarat Deputy Collector and Land Acquisition Officer, Magistrate First-Class at Dinajpur, Natore, Shariyatpur. He also served as UNO at Sylhet and Barguna districts.

 

He worked as Senior Assistant Secretary and Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He worked as Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary at Ministry of Commerce for 9 years.

 

At present he is the Director General of the ‘Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection’.

 

Mr. Shafiq obtained Honors and Masters Degree in Physics from Dhaka University. He was a research fellow at Kyushu University in Japan. He completed the core in -service training courses at home and abroad. He attended various meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops and symposiums both at home and overseas.

 

Throughout his career at the Ministry of Commerce, he developed expertise on Trade Negotiation. He was also the focal point on behalf of Bangladesh at UNESCAP, UNCTAD, European Union, COMSEC. He chaired the Trade Steering Group meeting at UNESCAP from 2017-2019. He also contributed to the signing of Cross-border Paperless Trade Agreement, where Bangladesh was the first signatory.

 

He has travelled around USA, UK, Australia, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, Kenya, Tanzania, Japan, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka, The Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Micronesia, Vanuatu, UAE and many more.
